Pottery classes are available for the beginner or advanced potter. If you are interested in learning about pottery or learning more techniques, browse through these classes offered regularly.

Ceramic Sorcery
for Adults and Teens 16+

Pottery Class

Our program is designed for both experienced potters and graduates of our Introduction to Pottery course. Guided by skilled instructors, students take on projects that spark creativity while receiving expert support every step of the way.

​

We continuously introduce new techniques and project ideas to encourage artistic growth and refine pottery skills. Whether mastering the pottery wheel or exploring tools like slab rollers and extruders, students have access to a fully equipped studio.

 

A wide selection of studio glazes are available, and clay must be purchased from The Guild for use in our studio. Join our vibrant community, where inspiration and craftsmanship come together—experience the magic of Ceramic Sorcery!

Clay Pot on Pottery Wheel
Pottery Open Studio

Weekly on Tuesdays  5:30pm – 9pm &

Sundays 1:30pm – 4:30pm

$15.00 Member/$20 Non-Member

(Plus $3 Supply fee paid in class)

Open Studio provides an opportunity for intermediate to advanced potters to utilize our studio space and tools, including slab-rollers and pottery wheels, to manifest their creative visions. Firing and glazing of pottery created during Open Studio sessions are included in the fee. Clay must be purchased from The Guild for use in our studio.

 

Prior registration for Open Studio is required.

Beginning Pottery offers an immersive experience where you'll explore both hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, accompanied by comprehensive glaze instruction. 

 

 Over the course of 8 weeks, you'll craft approximately 10 unique pieces, ranging from pinch-pot planters and hand-built mugs to bowls, platters, and wheel-thrown creations. Our studio provides all the necessary tools and a diverse selection of glazes for your artistic endeavors.

 

Simply bring your creativity – all studio equipment, tools and materials are included. 

 

Join our vibrant community of potters, where ideas flourish and creativity thrives! Please note, Introduction Pottery is a one-time series. For continued pottery exploration after this course, consider enrolling in our monthly pottery classes, which renew monthly at $85 (Members) or $100 (Non-Members).

Misty Pottery Class

This fun, hands-on class is perfect for anyone who has always wanted to try wheel throwing. In this single session, you’ll enjoy a combination of demonstration and guided practice, learning basic techniques as you create your own pot on the wheel. If you'd like to keep your creation, the instructor will trim and glaze it for you to pick up later.

This five-week class is designed to introduce students to the essential skills needed to create forms on the potter’s wheel. Through instructor demonstrations and hands-on practice, you'll learn foundational techniques like centering, raising, collaring, trimming, and glazing. Each session focuses on mastering basic forms such as cylinders, bowls, plates, and closed "bomb" pots, with personalized guidance to help you develop your craft.

Rutherford County Mural Mentorship Program

Rutherford County youth and young adults have the incredible opportunity to join and be mentored through a collaborative public art project that uplifts the history and future of our local food system. The Mural Mentorship Program (MMP) participants will help paint a large mural in downtown Rutherfordton to be installed and dedicated this summer.
